Service Description:
5ft x 5ft Digital Elevation Model for Sarasota County, FL.  The DEM was developed from an ESRI Terrain Dataset comprised of mass points (average 4ft spacing), 2-D and 3-D breakline features, and a softclip boundary footprint.  The mass points and breaklines were compiled in 2007 to support of the the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) development and maintenance of Regional Evacuation (Storm Surge) Studies.

To account for roadway, housing and commercial development since 2007, updates to the masspoints and breaklines were applied in 2014 - 2016 for the following watersheds: Phillipi Creek, Little Sarasota Bay, Lemon Bay and Dona Roberts Bay. The updated area feature layer is titled DEMUpdateBoundary and can be found by title in the Open Data site or searching on the DEM, Lidar, or Cadastral tags.
